xcelsior's new premises in Raņķa dambis 1.

Saglabājot salonu Kalnciema ielā 37, xcelsior pārceļas uz jaunām telpām Raņķa dambī 1. Kā uzņēmums ar divdesmit gadu vēsturi arhitektūras un dizaina jomā, xcelsior par vienu no saviem mērķiem izvirza dizaina izglītības līmeņa celšanu Latvijā.

Šim mērķim tiks izmantota ēka Raņķa dambī 1, kura celta 1911. gadā pēc Rīgas pilsētas arhitekta Reinholda Šmelinga projekta kā skola. Uzturot dzīvu mājas izglītojošo garu un vēsturi, tā tiks pārvērsta par multifunkcionālu dizaina telpu ideju un risinājumu apmaiņai, kā arī saskarsmes veicināšanai nozares profesionāļu, ražotāju, klientu, dizaina entuziastu, studentu un pasniedzēju vidū.

Atklājot jaunās telpas ar dāņu dizaina granda Hans J. Wegner krēslu izstādi THE CHAIR, xcelsior jau iezīmēja savas galvenās virzības tendences. Bijusī aktu zāle tiks izmantota ceļojošām dizaina izstādēm mēbeļu, grafiskā un modes dizaina jomā, turpinot veiksmīgo sadarbību ar Vitra Design Museum un Dizaina Informācijas Centru.

Klašu telpas tiks veltītas tehniski sarežģītākām tēmām – virtuvēm, biroja aprīkojumam, kā arī arhitektūras un tehniskajam izgaismojumam, pievēršoties šo zonu efektīvas un ergonomiskas plānošanas jautājumiem.

Otrā stāva galerija tiks veltīta 20. un 21. gadsimta būtiskākajiem dizaina oriģināliem un ikonām, lai ilustrētu dažādos laikos ieviestus, jaunus tehnoloģiskus paņēmienus, materiālus un detaļas, koncentrējoties uz krēslu kā komplicētāko dizaina priekšmetu.

Tā kā xcelsior uzskata dizaina attīstību par vienu no valsts ekonomiskās izaugsmes iespējām un rādītājiem, dizaina telpa Raņķa dambī 1 centīsies sniegt savu artavu šajā ilgstošajā un grūtajā procesā, kļūstot ne tikai par biroja jaunajām telpām, bet arī par nozares pārstāvju tikšanās vietu, izglītības iestādi un dizaina kultūras vēstniecību.

xcelsior Raņķa dambī 1 būs atvērts no augusta.

Darba laiki saglabājas no pirmdienas līdz piektdienai 10.00-19.00.

 

Preserving the salon in Kalnciema street 37, xcelsior is moving to new premises in Raņķa dambis 1. As an enterprise with 20 years of experience in architecture and design, xcelsior sees raising the level of design education in Latvia as one of its goals.

For this aim we will use the building in Raņķa dambis 1, which was built as a school in 1911 after the project of Riga's city architect Reinhold Schmaeling. By preserving the educational spirit and history of the building, it will be turned into a multi-functional design space for the exchange of ideas and solutions. It will also encourage the cooperation between the professionals of the field, the producers, clients, design enthusiasts, students and professors.

By opening the new space with THE CHAIR - an exhibition of chairs by the Danish design grand Hans J. Wegner - xcelsior has already outlined its main developmental tendencies. The big hall will be used for travelling exhibitions in the field of furniture, graphic and fashion design, continuing the succesful collaboration with the Vitra Design Museum and Design Information Center.

The classrooms will be devoted to technically more challenging themes – kitchens, office equipment, as well as the architectural and technical lighting, and the issues of their effective and ergonomic planning.

The second floor gallery will be devoted to the main design originals and icons of the 20^th and 21^st centuries to illustrate the innovations in technological methods, materials and details, concentrating on the chair as the most complex design object.

As xcelsior sees the development of design as one of the ways to encourage country's economical growth, the design space in Raņķa dambis 1 will try and give its contribution in this long and hard process, by becoming not only our new office, but also a meeting place for the field's representatives, a place of education and an embassy of design culture.

Xcelsior in Raņķa dambis 1 will be open from August and the opening times remain 10.00 to 19.00 from Monday to Friday.
