Jaunā Alias kolekcija un Pio Manzù atzveltnes krēsls Manzù

                                                                                                                        

            Sākot ar oktobri xcelsior jaunajās telpās dizaina centrā, Raņķa dambī 1 ir iespēja aplūkot  itāļu kompānijas Alias jauno kolekciju. Biroju un mājas iekārtošanai paredzēto mēbeļu vidū  ir arī slavenā britu dizaineru dueta PearsonLoyd eleven mīkstās mēbeles. Tom Lloyd un Luke Pearson 1997. gadā dibinātā kompānija ir sadarbojusies ne tikai ar tādām pasaulē pazīstamām kompānijām kā Magis, Artemide un Fritz Hansen, bet arī veidojusi Lufthansa lidmašīnu biznesa klases iekārtojuma dizainu.

            Svaigākais Alias jaunums, ar ko xcelsior vēlas iepazīstināt Latvijas publiku, ir oriģinālais Pio Manzù atzveltnes krēsls Manzù, kura dizains ir gluži kā izcelts no dizainera veidotā auto prototipa Austin Healey 3000, kā arī atgādina Lamborghini ādas sēdekļus.

            1960. gados Pio Manzù bija izcils itāļu automobiļu dizainers (radījis vienu no visveiksmīgākajiem itāļu auto – Fiat 127), kura darbus Alias ir izcēluši no arhīva dzīlēm. Ideja sākotnēji radās Bergamo GAMeC (Modernās un Laikmetīgās mākslas galerijā), kur glabājas Pio Manzù arhīvi un kur 2010. gadā satikās Renato Staffaucher un dizainera dēls Giacomo Manzoni. Abi kopā studēja skices, projektus un materiālus, līdz viņu uzmanību piesaistīja kāda krēsla prototips, kas sākotnēji bija izstrādāts Rianscente lielveikalam. Dizains liecināja, ka par iedvesmu acīmredzami ir kalpojusi auto industrija.

            Diemžēl krēslam trūka pamatnes un to varēja aplūkot tikai vienā fotogrāfijā, kas vēl bija saglabājusies. Tādējādi Alias, sadarbībā ar GAMeC un Giacomo Manzoni uzsāka aizraujošu izpētes un rekonstrukcijas procesu. Izmantojot trīsdimensiju sistēmas, no jauna tika izveidota sākotnējā piecstaru bāze, kuru Pio Manzù bija radījis, sadarbojoties ar japāņu mākslinieku. Paralēli tika atjaunots laika zoba skārtais, oriģinālais ādas prototips.

            Tika pieņemts lēmums sākotnējo projektu papildināt ar kāju balstu uz četrstaru bāzes, kurš tika izveidots, lai dabiski pieskaņotos krēsla dizainam un proporcijām. Tā kā Pio Manzù bija viens no pirmajiem dizaineriem, kurš pacēla cilvēka un mašīnas attiecības augstāk par tīri funkcionālo līmeni, Alias atklāja dziļu radošā gara līdzību ar dizaineri, arī uzsverot drošības un labklājības nozīmi. Pio Manzù bezkompromisu pieeja dizainam, kā arī mīlestība pret tehnoloģijām, nodrošināja viņam pioniera pozīciju ergonomikas sfērā.

            Manzù krēsls ir veidots no blīva poliuretāna un tā putu struktūras, bet bāze ir no lieta alumīnija, kas pulēta un emaljēta dažādos toņos. Gan krēsls, gan kāju soliņš tiek piedāvāti arī modernā, pilnīgi melnā versijā.

            Starting with October in the new premises of xcelsior design centre in Raņķa dambis 1, it will be possible to see the new collection from the Italian company Alias.

            The most fresh and exciting novelty from Alias that xcelsior wants to offer to the Latvian public, is the original Pio Manzù armchair Manzù whose design seems like taken out of the designer's created prototype for the Austin Healey 3000 car, as well as reminds us of the leather seats from a Lamborghini.

            In 1960s Pio Manzù was an excellent Italian car designer (having created one of the most successful  Italian cars Fiat 127) whose designs were dug out of an archive. Esentially the idea appeared in Bergamo GAMeC (Gallery of Modern and Contemporary art), which holds the Pio Manzù archives and where Renato Staffaucher and the designer's son Giacomo Manzoni met in 2012. Both studied the sketches, projects and materials, until their attention was caught by a chair's prototype that was originally created for the Rianscente shops. Design showed that evidently the source of inspiration was the car industry.

            Sadly the chair base was missing and it was only visible in one surviving photograph. Thus Alias in collaboration with GAMeC and Giacomo Manzoni started an exciting process of research and reconstruction. By using 3D systems the original five-star base was recreated, which Pio Manzù had created in collaboration with a Japanese artist. At the same time the original leather prototype was renewed.

            The decision was made to integrate a footrest on a four-star base, designed to be wholly coherent with the design and proportions of the chair. This journey of culture and design has given Alias the opportunity to discover a deep-rooted affinity with the historical figure of Pio Manzù. One of the first designers to have conceived the man-machine relationship beyond mere function, considering aspects of safety and well-being, Manzù's uncompromising approach to design and his familiarity with technology made him a genuine pioneer in the sphere of ergonomics.

            Manzù chair is made up of a supporting structure in dense polyurethane co-formed with polyurethane foam. The base is cast aluminium, polished and enamelled in various colours. Both pieces are presented in an elegant leather upholstery with a choice of several shades.
