Helsinki Design Week 2012
Šogad
Helsinku Dizaina nedēļa noritēs no 6.-16. septembrim un galvenie
pasākumi notiks Vecajā Muitas noliktavā Katajanokka, un festivāls
ir daļa no Pasaules Dizaina galvas pilsēta 2012 programmas.
Helsinku
to programmā.
somu dizaina veikalam.
To

This
year the Helsinki Design Week will take place from 6th-16th
September and the main events will take place in the Old Customs
Warehouse Katajanokka, and the festival is a part of the World Design
Capital 2012 program.
This year's theme for the Helsinki Design Week is co-creating. Thus the Helsinki Design Week isn't only an event you can visit, but rather a cirty wide happening, where you can participate in. This year everyone can create their own design event and submit it to the program. Of course, for the event to be succesful, it needs your active participation.
The annual city festival looks for design in all areas of life – it can traditional or industrial design, fashion, communications or even music. In the last years the festival's network has grown with more and more people submitting their events.
The main premises of the events – the Old Customs Warehouse (Tulli-ja Pakkahuone in Finnish) – was built at the turn of the century, and this stunning National Romanticism building was designed by Gustaf Nystrom in 1899. The 900 m² territory of the warehouse is open for exhibitions, seminars, parties, PechaKucha nights, film locations and Finnish Design Shop.
It was re-discovered by Luovi in 2010 and, if you're interested in using the premises for your events, get in touch with Martina Wuoristo: martina.wuoristo@helsinkidesignweek.com.
Helsinki PechaKucha nights gather the local and international talents and PechaKucha is a constant part of the Helsinki Design Week since 2006.
Initially PechaKucha was created by Klein Dytham Architecture in Tokyo and it's a simple 20 x20 presentation format, when the speaker chooses 20 images and each of them has a 20 second period in the slideshow, then it automatically changes to the next, whilst the speaker talks along the images. Nowadays PechaKucha nights are happening in over 230 cities worldwide.
You can still submit your event for Helsinki Design Week 2012. Print-out programs are full, but your information will be available on the website.
